RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Police raided a South Richmond convenience store, witnesses told CBS 6 reporter Sandra Jones.

Richmond Police, Virginia State Police, the ATF and a Chesterfield forensics unit were outside the S&S FasMart and Deli on Jeff Davis Highway and Afton Ave, when Jones arrived on scene around 10:15 a.m.

The owner of a nearby business told Jones the raid began around 8:45 a.m. He said officers told customers and store employees to get on the ground. Customers were later allowed to leave, however employees were taken into the store, he said.

A plain clothes officer later arrived in a moving truck and investigators were seen loading the truck with boxes filled with items from inside the store.

A witness told CBS 6 they saw police take someone away from the store in handcuffs, however police have not yet confirmed any arrests nor provided any details about the operation.

The store is now closed to the public as the investigation continues.

This is a developing story.
