A cold front swept through the area Saturday night, ushering in much cooler air Sunday.  High pressure Monday into Tuesday will allow for clear skies and calm winds, causing temperatures to drop into the 40s for most of the area.

This means some overnight low temperatures at levels not seen since early to mid May (or late April in some cases).  Normal low for this point of the month is in the mid to upper 50s.

The heart of the coldest air will stay just to our west and northwest.  Many states are under frost advisories.  Our viewing area is not included in these advisories, but some sections of southwestern and extreme western Virginia are.

Winds will turn southwesterly Tuesday afternoon, allowing warmer air to return to the region.  Highs Tuesday will jump into the upper 70s, and into the low/mid 80s on Wednesday.
