SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A triple shooting on Monday afternoon has left two dead in Spotsylvania County.

Police are calling this scene a murder/suicide between family members, but have no idea yet what might have sparked the violence.

Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office Captain Mike Harvey said the shooting occurred at 1:19 p.m., in the 8300 block of McLaws Lane. When they arrived on scene, police discovered two people dead in the driveway, of apparent gunshot wounds.

Police have said that all victims are related.

Another victim was found at the next door neighbor's home. She sustained injuries to her elbow and abdomen and is recovering at Mary Washington University hospital.

Police identified the 43-year old man, and suspected shooter as David Anderson. His mother, who was in her 70s, has been identified by police as Jean Anderson.

The woman in the hospital is the daughter of Anderson. She has been identified as 51-year old Laura Reeves, the sister of the alleged shooter. She is in stable but critical condition.

Police said that all three, plus Reeve’s husband, lived in the same home together.

Police have recovered one handgun and one rifle from the scene.
