SAN DIEGO (CNN) – What a weekend at the 48th annual San Diego Bayfair in Mission Bay, California. The world’s fastest boats converge on the city for the end of summer races.
This year spectators watched a stunning accident unfold during the drag-boat qualifiers. CNN iReporter Jim Grant captured images of one of the boats breaking apart during the race.
The boat was traveling at speeds of up to 230 miles-per-hour. Thanks to the driver capsule, the racer was was quickly rescued.
He walked away from the accident uninjured.
