PUEBLO, Colo. (KDVR) – The FAA has confirmed that a pilot died in a small plane crash at the Pueblo Memorial Airport Sunday morning.
The airport’s manager Mark Lovin said that at about 8:20 a.m. Sunday, an experimental aircraft crashed while landing. A spokesperson from the FAA said the plane was a homebuilt KR2S that crashed under unknown circumstances.
The pilot who died was the only pilot on board, and according to Lovin his name is not yet being released.
The plane crashed at the intersection of two runways, which remain closed.
Lovin said one shorter runway remains open, however a campaign spokesperson said Mitt Romney’s afternoon rally that was scheduled Sunday in Pueblo has been cancelled.
