BEIRUT (WTVR) - The Pope is working to ease tensions between Christians and Muslims in the Middle East.

On Saturday, Pope Benedict XVI met with Christian and Muslim leaders in Lebanon, a Middle Eastern country with a large Christian population.  He told the leaders not to let discrimination, unemployment and instability drive them abroad.

According to the Associated Press, the Pope also spoke to 20,000 young Syrian Christians at a rally reminding them "the Pope has not forgotten you."

"We need to say no to revenge and to recognize one's wrongs and not to give excuses without looking for the reasons because only forgiveness can be received in a sustainable lasting way and peace for all," the Pope said.
