(CNN) – In one Austin, Texas neighborhood someone isn’t picking up after Fido. So the homeowners’ association is taking matters into its own hands.

The Pointe, a small condominium complex made up of 31 units, mainly retired folks. Nice homes, peaceful streets and well kept yards. But behind these gates neighbors says there’s something smelly going on.

Residents recently were contacted by the Home Owners Association asking for a sample of their dogs DNA through their poop. The email says that dog droppings keep showing up in common areas. That’s why the board is pushing for DNA testing. The HOA is requesting every dog in the neighborhood have their DNA taken and put on file. That way when a mess is found they can have it analyzed and find the culprit.

Neighbors think the H-O-A has gone too far. The Home Owners Association released a statement saying the D-N-A testing is a last resort measure. They say they have received numerous complaints and no input from residents, so its considering D-N-A testing.
