CHESTERFIELD (WTVR) – A local teacher is in the running to become Virginia’s Teacher of the Year.  Paul Daszkiewicz, a teacher at Chesterfield’s Meadowbrook High, won the Region One Teacher of the Year. He is one of eight teachers in the state who will be considered for the overall Teacher of the Year title.

His school held a surprise pep rally to give him the news. Administrators told him he was going to an assembly that focused on math SOL scores.

Daszkiewicz, also known to students as Mr. D, has been teaching math at Meadowbrook for 22 years.

He was named Meadowbrook’s Teacher of the Year, Chesterfield County’s High School Teacher of the Year, and Chesterfield County’s Teacher of the Year.
