RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Our fourteenth tropical depression of the 2012 season formed Tuesday morning in the open waters of the Central Atlantic Ocean. It is organizing and moving over very warm waters favorable for intensification. TD #14 will likely become Tropical Storm Nadine, and eventually Hurricane Nadine, through the rest of this week.

However, TD #14 is likely no threat to the U.S., as it is expected to take a turn north and then northeast before ever getting close to the East Coast.

A NASA Global Hawk NASAHS3 aircraft took flight from Virginia-based NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility this morning to investigate TD #14. This aircraft will fly high above the storm itself. CLICK HERE to track its progress and learn more about the mission.
