RICHMOND (WTVR) – Richmond’s mayor Dwight Jone’s could have a challenger in the upcoming November election.

Right now he is running unopposed, but a potential candidate has completed the requirements to get 23 petition signatures verified by the city registrar. Earlier the city registrar said those signatures were not valid and disqualified him from having his name on the ballot.

A judge granted an injunction on Wednesday, giving potential mayoral candidate Michael Ryan three days to verify those signatures he argues are valid.

Ryan tells CBS 6 he has given the city registrar the birth dates and last four digits of the social security numbers of those 23 voters.

The city registrar says she will issue the final determination on Ryan’s mayoral ballot eligibility on Monday.
