Police find gun, child in baby stroller

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WTKR)  – A handgun was found in the bottom storage compartment of a baby stroller with the baby still inside, according to Newport News police. Police said on September 4, 2012, a little before 11:00 p.m, officers responded to the 21st Street and Wickham Avenue area in reference to a man having a gun. 

Police said when they arrived, the man was with his girlfriend who was pushing a stroller. Police found the gun in the stroller.

Simon Terrell Quartlbaum, 21, of 16th Street in Newport News was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by felon. His girlfriend, Brittany Jamal Thomas, 22, of Sunnyside Drive in Hampton, was issued a criminal summons for carrying a concealed weapon.
