(WTVR)– The Secret Service is currently investigating a letter claiming that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s tax returns are being held hostage.

The person or persons sent an anonymous message to newspaper outlets and political offices in Tennessee. In that letter they claim that Romney’s tax files were stolen from his accounting company Price Waterhouse Coopers.

The accounting company says that there is no evidence to suggest that any files were stolen.
However, the letter threatens that if a one million dollar ransom is not paid, the files will be released to the public.

The wealthy GOP candidate has been criticized by Democrats for not releasing more information regarding his wealth or taxes paid.
