(WTVR) – There are more problems for the latest model of the Ford Escape.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 7,600 SUVs because of a coolant leak that could cause the engine to overheat or catch on fire.

Ford said it will notify owners, and dealers will seal the existing plug and add a secondary plug cover. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about, September 10, 2012. If you have questions, call Ford at 866-436-7332.

This is the third recall for the 2013 Escape in less than two months.

In fact, the company recalled 421,000 Escape crossover SUVs in July to fix a problem in which a speed control cable can become stuck resulting in unintended continued acceleration.

Only model year 2001 through 2004 Escapes equipped with V6 engines and cruise control were part of that recall.

When the gas pedal is pressed almost all the way down, a cruise control cable can become stuck between the engine cover and a cruise control cable cover. The problem can occur whether cruise control is in use or not.

If this happens, the engine will not return to a slower speed even after the driver releases the gas pedal.
