HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police are investigating an early morning shooting at a house party along the 11000 block of Hilbingdon Road in Henrico’s West End, Henrico Police told CBS 6. Police said they are actively seeking suspects, but so far no arrests have been made.

Henrico Police said a girl, who was shot in the head outside a home on that street, was found near The Steward School off Gayton Road around 1:23 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police said the victim, a juvenile, was listed in stable condition at the hospital. Due to the age of the victim, CBS 6 is waiting for police or her family to release her name before we publish the name given to us by friends and witnesses.

Police do not yet know if the victim was the intended target or hit by a stray bullet.

Several teenagers from Hanover area high schools attended the party, drinking and having fun, but things quickly changed.

A teenager who said he attended the same party told CBS 6 a group of teenagers showed up to the house and started to steal items, like iPhones, from other teenagers at the party.

"They were giving high fives and then all of the sudden, iPhones were gone and it was crazy.  All of the beer was out of the room"

He said the shooting started after the group of teens was asked to leave, and they did.  But they came back with weapons.  That's when this party goer claims his female teenage friend was shot in the head as chaos was breaking out just a few feet away from him.

"That was so scary," he said.

He claims it's scary enough for him to think twice the next time there's a party.

“That changed my perspective on what can happen at a party and why people are so serious about underage drinking,” the teen, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

A neighbor who spoke to CBS 6 News said he was awoken by two "spurts" of gunshots followed by the sound of screeching tires.

According to a report on social media, a prayer vigil for the injured student was held Sunday night at a friend's house.

Henrico Police will not release the name of the victim nor will confirm that iPhones were stolen.  But they told us that she is currently at the hospital in stable condition.
