CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The 18th season of CBS 6 Final Score Friday officially kicks off next week, but there are a handful of games Thursday and Friday for teams getting an early jump on the season.

One of the biggest games Thursday is at Manchester, where the Lancers host Meadowbrook in a non-district game. [SEE IT, SHOOT IT, SEND IT: If you're at the games, email your photos to pics@wtvr.com or upload to theCBS 6 Facebook page.]

However, CBS 6 Sports Director Lane Casadonte said this game will say a lot about which of these teams will have a better shot at making the division six playoffs.

Meadowbrook quarterback Gerald Johnson said the team always wants to play hard and win the non-district games, but also looks at those games as a way to improve performance.

"For us to be the team that we want to be, we have to play against the best competition. Coach Taylor and Meadow is obviously one of the favorite teams in the region – and they pose a great challenge to us," said Manchester Head Coach Tom Hall.
