Update on human skeletal remains found along I-95

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) –  Autopsy results of the skeletal remains found alongside Interstate 95 in Stafford County are that of a female.

Officials said that the case will be handle as a suspicious death because of evidence found at the scene. The remains had been there for at least one year said police.

The female was age 25-40, said police.

A truck driver found human skeletal remains alongside Interstate 95, in the woods near the northbound Exit 140 ramp.

The truck driver found the remains while walking in the woods after he parked his tractor trailer on the ramp, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Bill Kennedy wrote in an email to CBS 6.

Due to the sensitivity of the on-going investigation no other information is available at this time. Additional information will be made available when possible.

Members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office as well as members of the Virginia State Police were part of the initial investigation and will continue to work together as the investigation of this incident continues.
