(CNN) – A new survey is looking at an age-old mindset, that men are better at managing money than women.

The poll by U.S. Trust, a division of Bank of America, finds nearly three-quarters of rich men say they are better qualified to make investment decisions than their spouses.

Only 18% of women said they were better with investing. Researchers also found 73% of wealthy men have a greater say in household investments, like retirement funds and stocks.

Just 15% of upper-class women said they were in charge of family finances. One pollster said the disparity is likely due to old stereotypes and age.

Younger couples were far more likely to share investment decision-making. The survey quizzed 650 investors with at least three-million dollars in assets.
