DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va (WTVR) – A Virginia truck driver is charged with failure to properly secure his load, following an incident that closed part of Interstate 85 Monday morning.

In an email to CBS 6, Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar identified the truck driver as Earl Baskfield, 62, of Prince George County.

Molnar said a pallet of chainsaw oil fell off Baskfield’s truck this morning and landed on Interstate 85 southbound near the 64 mile marker in Dinwiddie County. A vehicle behind Baskfield’s truck swerved off the interstate to avoid the mess.

No one was seriously hurt, Molnar said.

The left lane of southbound Interstate 85 remained closed for clean-up. Molnar expected the lane to “remain closed for several more hours.”
