HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)–A groundbreaking on an expansion for a unique Central Virginia school.

Richmond Montessori school initiated step one of an estimated $12 million dollar project to expand their facilities off Parham Road.

A new academic building will house science labs and classrooms for elementary students. School leaders have been mapping out the project for several years and are looking forward to what this expanded campus will do for students

“It will really enhance the artistic, athletic, and academic opportunities for all our students,” Stephaine Ford, Chair of Capital Campaign, said.

“Particularly as they progress through the program,” she added.

This expansion in the north campus is transformational for our school,” Susanna Gregory, Head of School Richmond Montessori School, said. “We’re not a big school, we don’t go around building buildings all the time.”

After this expansion, a full-sized gym will be built, but not until after this expansion project is complete.
