DENVER (KDVR) –  New court documents were released in the murder trial of James Holmes Friday, alleging the suspected gunman in the Aurora theater tragedy told a classmate he wanted to kill people in March — four months before the shooting.

One of those court documents was a motion from prosecutors seeking access to Holmes’ records from the University of Colorado-Denver’s graduate program of neuroscience.

According to the motion, Holmes “had conversations with a classmate about wanting to kill people in March, 2012, and that he would do so when his life was over.”

Arguments presented at a court hearing Thursday began to reveal a possible motive behind the attack prosecutors say Holmes committed at the premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises” in July, which left 12 dead and 58 injured.
