RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond fire crews have extinguished a blaze at a home that killed a dog in the city’s Fulton neighborhood Friday.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Carlisle Avenue.

Officials said the fire appears to have started in the rear of the single-story, wood frame home.

Firefighters knocked out the blaze in about 15 minutes.

Most of the damage was contained  to the back of the house.

Officials said a dog, which was crated inside the home, died.

The homeowner was not home when the fire started.
