Could Virginia soon be home to an NBA team?

Hampton Roads (WTVR) – The Hampton Roads Business Journal reports the NBA’s Sacramento Kings are in talks to move to Virginia Beach and the deal  would include a new arena built with support from Comcast.

A spokesman for the NBA says the league has no knowledge of any deal and that no one has filed any relocation papers with the league.

Virginia Beach’s Mayor William Sessoms said this in response, “Comcast Spectacor will guarantee a professional sports team coming to our area if we should come to terms on building an arena. ”

He said he does not know which team Comcast has in mind, but did confirm they are working on a plan for a new 18-thousand seat arena that would be built near the oceanfront.
