CHESTER, Va. (WTVR) - Chester resident Tanya Blevins  loves dogs. She’s even got two of her own. But, she’s still shaking up after being bit by someone else’s dog Wednesday afternoon at Point of Rocks Park in Chester.

She said she and her 11 year-old son, Gage had just arrived at he park when she saw two girls and two large dogs walking back from the trail.

“I asked Gage to pick up the dog he was walking and I picked up the dog I was walking, and when I picked up my dog [one of the large dogs barked]..and jumped on the park bench. I turned [to the side while holding my little dog] and that`s when he got the back of my arm trying to go after my dog.” Blevins said.

She said the dog left her arm sore, with bite marks, so she went to the doctor and got a tetanus shot.

“The doctor recommended I find out if the dogs were vaccinated…I was concerned. I didn`t realize if I was going to be able to find the girls with the dogs. I’m in no way upset with them. I just really want to know if the dogs had their shots,” she said.

If not, it means she’ll have to undergo a series of rabies shots.

“It’s about 7 to 9 shots over a three month period of time,” she said.

She says the girls were between 18 and 25, and the dog was possibly a pit bull.

She’s not scared of pit bulls, but she is scared of needles.

“I don`t really want to go through [the shots and] all that,” she said.

Her only wish is that she find the owner of the dog.

Blevins filed a report with Chesterfield Animal Control.
