Richmond (WTVR) – People living in Emporia, Sussex County, and Caroline County are upset over plans to install tolls on Interstate 95.

It has sparked debate in many of these places.

The mayor of Emporia,  Sam Adams called into this morning’s “Ask the Governor” radio show to find out why his city was one of the  choices for tolls when Caroline County, he says,  would make the state more money because it has a higher volume of traffic.

Governor Bob Mcdonnell responded by saying this, “I’m not sure that a final decision has been made. I’ve been talking to the Secretary of Transportation, getting briefed from time to time. I know we are still going through some approval processes from the Federal Government in order to get that done, but certainly the comments that you have made this morning I will bring back to the secretary to see if that full analysis has been made about what is the best location given the concerns that you and your citizens have.”

Those proposed tolls could be in effect by as early as next year.
