Watching the Atlantic

The remnants of Hurricane Gordon have moved out into the far eastern Atlantic towards Portugal.

We continue to watch a strong tropical wave (marked with a red circle) roughly halfway between the Windward Islands and Africa.  This has strengthened quite a bit in the past 48 hours and has the potential to become our next tropical storm.  If it does reach that status, it will be named Isaac.

The consensus of computer models take it westward towards Cuba and the Caribbean.  This will need to be watched, because its final destination could be parts of the Gulf of Mexico or the southeastern United States if it holds together.
