RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Cameron's Seafood opened on Broad Street in Richmond about 6 months ago.

“We're still working our way up to the plateau”, says owner Peymon Manesh.

But, he thinks it’s about to get busier because right across the street, behind the Science Museum of Virginia,  the Washington Redskins are eyeing a potential site as their official training camp.

A source tells Reporter and Weekend Anchor, Angela Pellerano, the 12 acre lot in the 2700 block of West Leigh Street will include two side by side football fields, a small drill field and field house.

Then, across Leigh Street, an area would become a parking lot for fans. And, just a few miles west, VCU Sports Backers Stadium could potentially become the destination for fan appreciation day.

The source says Washington Redskins leaders  like this site because it requires no building demolition and it's close to the Science Museum of Virginia and The Children’s Museum of Richmond frequented by kids.

“I think it would be interesting for the kids… something to look forward to. Parents are supposed to be role models, but it gives them role models,” says parent, Mark Tillman.

“They would be giving back to the community. I think it will be good for the kids,” said parent, Krystal Burgess.

More than a week ago, Washington Redskins leaders, including General Manager Bruce Allen, were in Richmond scoping our Virginia Union University, another potential site for a Redskins training camp.

But, Manesh hopes they close on the site behind the Science Museum of Virginia on Leigh Street because the idea of quarterback Robert Griffin, III walking into his restaurant makes him giddy.

“I can't say I haven't dreamed about it,” he said laughingly.

The source says construction on the state owned property appraised at $838,000 would start next month.

CBS 6 contacted Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones’ office, but they declined to comment. However, they did say they plan to make an official announcement on the Redskins training camp August 30th.
