(MYFOX8, by Joe Borlik), DAVIDSON, N.C. — Chick-fil-A will no longer be served at Davidson College’s student events until the school’s Union Board hears student opinions about whether the college should do business with the controversial fast food chain.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the Davidson College Union Board usually serves the chain’s food at student events offering free food and entertainment.

School officials said members of the board have decided to get students’ input about Chick-fil-A before scheduling for any sandwiches to be served for an event this year.

The Observer reported that the board will discuss the situation and make a decision at a meeting early in the semester. Classes at Davidson start Aug. 27.

Chick-fil-A was the subject of national controversy after the chain’s president Dan Cathy said he was “guilty as charged” in supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit” in a July interview with the Baptist Press.
