VIDEO VAULT: The day Jerry Garcia died

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – It’s been 17 years since the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia died. I found this story WTVR CBS 6 produced from that day. [Click here to visit the CBS 6 Video Vault]

The Grateful Dead has been banned from playing Richmond since the 1980′s, but Garcia played a concert with the Jerry Garcia Band at the Richmond Coliseum in 1993.

There is some footage from that night in this story. I also like the WVGO interview, the Plan 9 interview and “small” group of Deadheads that gathered in Monroe Park.

I find it hard to believe a larger group did not gather somewhere to mark Garcia’s passing.
