RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond police are warning the community after a woman was assaulted while jogging in the The Fan.

Officers responded to a call around 8 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Davis Avenue. When they arrived, the woman told officers she was running when a man grabbed her.

Police said the suspect is described as a white male in his late twenties to early thirties with an athletic build and short hair. The man was last spotted wearing a navy blue t-shirt and navy blue baseball cap.

Officials said there was at least one similar incident that occurred in the Fan neighborhood last year.

As a result, police are advising citizens to pay attention to their surroundings — and to not wear headphones when walking or jogging. If anyone spots anything or anyone suspicious, call 804-646-5100.

If you have information that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
