Pickup truck overturns, kills teenager

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Williamsburg teenager was killed when the pickup truck she was riding in overturned early Sunday morning, according to an email from New Kent Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Joseph McLaughlin, Jr.

Investigators said the 19-year-old victim was with two other people riding in the bed of a truck driven by 20-year-old Joshua Earl Apperson.

Deputies said Apperson’s truck overturned in a field off Homestead Rd. The other passengers, including a 17-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries.

Apperson, who was not hurt, is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter, felony child endangerment, reckless driving and underage possession of alcohol.
