RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—The River City can welcome the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to town.

The agency has just signed a short-term lease for a 17,500 square foot office at the sprawling Circuit City headquarters in Glen Allen. FEMA will occupy space at the third building of a six-building complex.

FEMA’s presence in Richmond is to provide a base of operations to serve the central Virginia area. Wakefield.

The building is owned by Diversified Realty Ventures, who in addition to properties in Richmond, holds real estate investment in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

“We are pleased to assist FEMA in broadening its footprint in Richmond so that they can fulfill their mission in serving the people of central Virginia,” said W. Spilman Short, Jr., DRV Principal. “We all have had the opportunity to appreciate FEMA’s critical role in response to natural disasters.”

The lease is six-months and is intended to help better serve the area through hurricane season.
