RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—The community is invited by Mayor Dwight C. Jones’ Breastfeeding Commission to attend a public forum to help prioritize the Commission’s preliminary recommendations and identify strategies aimed at increasing the number of women breastfeeding, particularly among under served and fragile women, in the city of Richmond.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 31, from 6-8 p.m., at the Pine Camp Culture Arts and Community Center at 4901 Old Brook Road.

The commission was established because the Mayor’s administration believes that breastfeeding benefits infant, mothers, families, and the entire community as it increases the likelihood of healthy children and reduces childhood obesity.

Additionally the commission has stated that breastfeeding protects children from infection, illnesses and allergies, and enhances the development and intelligence of infants who are exclusively breast-fed for six month or longer.

If you are planning to attend and require special accommodations, please call 646-5823.
