Update: Teen dead from shooting outside Henrico convenience store

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Police are investigating a homicide, and searching for a suspect after a man was shot outside a convenience store in Eastern Henrico County Saturday afternoon.

Henrico Police Lt. A. D. Merz said police were called to the Grab-N- Go convenience store in the 1500 block of Darbytown Road around 2:50 p.m.. That’s when a man who said he had been shot rushed inside the store.

Investigators said it appears the man was shot during an altercation between the victim and at least one suspect outside the business.

Police said the victim, Yahya Jabbar, Jr., age 19, of the 5900 block of Amherst Street in  Henrico, was pronounced dead at VCU Medical Center.

The suspect’s description is vague; Merz described the suspect as a black male, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and  blue pants.
