LOUISVILLE, Ky.(WTVR) – The charges against a 17-year-old Kentucky girl, who named her sexual assailants on Twitter, have been dropped.

The Courier-Journal reported that Savannah Dietrich of Louisville tweeted the names of the two teenagers who plead guilty of sexual assaulting her while she was passed out drunk. The boys plead guilty in June to first-degree sexual abuse and misdemeanor voyeurism.

They had taken pictures of Dietrich in addition to the assault.

However, a plea agreement was established that the names of the boys were to remain confidential.

Dietrich tweeted their names. “For months, I cried myself to sleep. I couldn’t go out in public places,” she told the newspaper. “You just sit there and wonder, who saw (the pictures), who knows?”

Dietrich told The Courier-Journal that she felt her attackers were given a lenient deal.

An online petition to have the contempt charges dropped collected more than 62,000 signatures. Dietrich could have faced a potential sentence of up to 180 days in jail and a $500 fine, for naming her attackers.

David Mejia, an attorney for one of the accused boys, said the motion to hold Dietrich in contempt was withdrawn Monday, reported the newspaper, because the story has gone global.

He said that the boys names have already been circulated beyond the original tweet.
