CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Virginia couple faces drug and child endangerment charges after investigators discovered a suspected meth lab in the couple’s Culpeper home, according to an email from Culpeper Public Information Officer Wally Bunker.

Bunker said investigators arrived at the couple’s home Tuesday when a neighbor called to complain about screaming and cursing coming from the Meander Drive house.

At the home, police found what appeared to be the beginnings of a meth lab, Bunker said. The chemicals in question were discovered in the garage.

There were also two boys, ages 6 and 7, in the house. The children were not hurt, police said.

Crystal Deavers, 26, and Robert Hawthorne Jr., 23, are charged with two counts each of felony child endangerment, two counts each of manufacturing methamphetamine with a child present, one felony count each of possession of materials to manufacture methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count each of domestic assault.

Hawthorne was also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Police evacuated homes nearby the suspects’ house as a precaution. The suspects’ home was deemed “unfit for habitation.”
