(CBS News) Details continue to emerge about Usher’s 11-year-old stepson, who has reportedly been declared brain dead after being struck by a Jet Ski on Friday.

Officers said Monday that 38-year-old Jeffrey Hubbard, a family friend, ran over Kyle Glover and another friend with a personal watercraft while they were floating in an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat on Georgia’s Lake Lanier, according to CBS Atlanta affiliate WGCL-TV.

Glover, the son of Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and the friend, a 15-year-old girl, were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition, WGCL-TV reports. The girl is now said to be in stable condition with deep cuts to her head and a broken arm.

Two Department of Natural Resources rangers witnessed the accident and saved the girl, according to the affiliate’s report. The boy was reportedly rescued by a pair of Good Samaritans.

Officers said alcohol was not a factor, WGCL-TV reports. They have not filed charges, but are still investigating.

Glover was struck in the head during the incident, according to reports.

TMZ reported Sunday that doctors have declared Glover brain dead following the accident. According to the website, the boy has not experienced any brain activity since he was admitted to the hospital.

Usher and Foster, who divorced in 2009 and are currently battling over custody of their two sons, are both reportedly at the hospital.

Foster spoke to RadarOnline on Sunday, simply saying, “He’s bad.”

She also reportedly updated her Facebook page, according to RadarOnline, to say, “Kyle, You are strong.. You’ll be saved I know it. I love you my baby. I need all #Prayers for my son! thanks you everybody!”

Usher, who split from Foster in 2009, is said to be very upset. “He grew close to Kyle and, of course, that has nothing to do with the situation with Tameka,” a source told Us Weekly. “He loved Kyle. This is a terrible, awful tragedy. Usher is torn up.”

Usher chartered a plane for Foster to fly immediately to the hospital, reports TMZ.

Curtis Frampton, the owner of the Lake Lanier business that rented the personal watercraft, told WSB-TVhe feels really bad about the collision. “I take it very personal,” he said. “Anytime that an accident like this happens, or any accident happens, I feel bad for the families.”

Kyle is Foster’s son from her previous marriage to Ryan Glover.

Usher has two children with Foster: Usher V, 4, and Naviyd, 3.
