RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Heavy overnight rain flooded parts of Interstate 95 Tuesday morning. VDOT closed the interstate between Route 1/Brook Road (mile marker 81) and Broad Street (mile marker 74) around 4:30 a.m. The northbound lanes reopened a little after 5:00 a.m.

By 6:05 a.m., VDOT reported the lanes had reopened, however only one travel lane was open in each direction between Lombardy Street (mile marker 77) and Laburnum Avenue (mile marker 79) due to continuing bridge work, according to VDOT Communications Manager Dawn Eischen.

The Hermitage Road bridge replacement was delayed due to high water and is expected to continue through 7 a.m. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route.
