SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) – Sunday’s storm tore down two walls and sheared the roof off a Virginia dance studio. About two dozen cheerleaders were inside with their parents when the storm hit the Fredericksburg area.
“We were scared and praying to God, hoping we weren’t going to die,” one of the cheerleaders told WJLA.
“Miss Connie was trying to tape up the window and she just told everyone to get in the dance room,” said another.
When the storm blew out the windows, the teacher ordered everyone to the front end of the building. That’s the only part that is still standing.
“We had just stepped foot in there and we saw it just cave in on us,” said a third cheerleader.
"I can't tell you what we're feeling. I drove up and said, 'It's got to be a dream. This just cannot be real.' We still just are in a state of shock," said business owner Deborah Perkins.
Two parents were injured in the commotion. As for the dance studio's roof, it flew a few hundred feet and landed on a house. Luckily, no one was home when it happened.
