HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Some folks are none too pleased to be celebrating the Fourth of July without power after last weekend's storm downed trees and power lines.

In fact, it’s day number five without electricity for Richard Parham. He told CBS 6 News' Sandra Jones Wednesday that he is still having a tough time in the eastern part of Henrico County and that he has no idea when the power will be restored.

"I've got an 82-year-old father-in-law, and my wife has asthma real bad,” said Parham. he said having power is just plain miserable, even if you have a generator.

Parham said he has spent $245 for gas, in an effort to save food for his family and neighbors.

Parham said he and several of his neighbors are on a different power grid in their Eastern Henrico community.

He said Dominion Virginia Power has not given the community a definite idea of when their power will be restored. For now, they are doing the best they can to stay cool.

"It gets expensive, but you just have to grin and bear it,” said Parham.

Others acorss the area, inclduing some in neighboring Hanover County, got their power back Wednesday.

Bill Bosher said he's happy to have his power finally back on Wednesday.

"I'm thankful for Dominion and for the South Carolina group that I just shook hands with," said Bosher. And now, they’re off to their next stop."

As of 6 p.m., just under 6,000 customers remain without power in Richmond and Tri-Cities area.
