DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -  The Dinwiddie County Sheriff's office is searching for suspects involved in a bizarre theft at a grocery store.

Investigators say surveillance camera footage captures the actions of three men as they work to distract a store manager so they can sneak into his office and steal cash.

It happened on Saturday evening around 6 p.m. at a Produce Center in the 5800 block of Boydton Plank Road.

Lieutenant David Gunn says footage shows one man picking a lock, gaining entry to the manager's office, while two others served as lookouts inside the store.

One of the men distracted the manager with questions, and when the manager began to grow suspicious, the third man created a dramatic diversion, pretending to slip and fall on the floor.

"He just falls to the floor, saying he had slipped on something," David Harrison, the store's night manager, said. "A bunch of people, including the man I was talking to, started asking well aren't you going to go over there and

While the manager was busy tending to the two look outs, the first man walked out of the office, making off with a significant amount of cash.

Gunn says what makes the crime unusual is not just well how planned it was, but the fact that the suspects are significantly older.

"This is an older group of suspects that have actually thought about this crime--it's a very organized crime," Gunn said. "They knew where to be and knew what to do if something actually went wrong."

The man who entered the manager's office is described as being a black male, 5 foot 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing a burgundy and maroon shirt and maroon shorts. He's believed to be in his late 30's or early 40's.

The second suspect, the man that spoke with the manager is describes as a black male, 6 foot 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black long t-shirt and black athletic pants.

The third suspect is believed to be the oldest. He's a black male,5 feet 10 inches and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing a grey shirt, grey shorts and a white hat. Witnesses say he has a large birthmark or scar on one of his ankles. It's a described as being a round circle.
