Goochland, Va. (WTVR)--The National Weather Service confirmed earlier today that a tornado touched down in Goochland County during yesterday's storms.

The tornado was an EF0, the lowest-level twister. That size tornado produces winds of 65 to 85 mph. The tornado is reported to have touched down in the vicinity of Hickory Hill Road.

As CBS 6 meterologist Zach Daniel explains in the video above, a large-scale derecho, which is a type of widespread and usually fast-moving windstorm, traveled from eastern Goochland to western Hanover County.

Daniel explained that those wind speeds, estimated at 80 to 100 mph, could have been more damaging than the tornado.
