LAKE CHESDIN, Va (WTVR) – Customers of the Appomattox River Water Authority are being asked to conserve water because of low water levels in Lake Chesdin.

This impacts the cities of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, as well as portions of Chesterfield, Prince George and Dinwiddie Counties.

Customers are being asked to voluntarily restrict their water usage. Officials say conserving water now should postpone mandatory measures being enacted later.

The Lake Chesdin water level has fallen 12 inches below the spillway, the trigger level for voluntary restrictions.
