A National Guard helicopter was used to track marijuana plants and led to the confiscation of more than 700 marijuana plants.

The Tri-County Task Force conducted the raids last week. Westmoreland Sheriff C.O. Balderson told The Free Lance-Star that the street value of the confiscated plants is nearly $2 million.

Officials said about 365 marijuana plants were found growing near a middle school during one aerial search.

Donald Henderson, 54, of Montross was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone and possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture.

He was being held at Northern Neck Regional Jail without bond.

Additional plants were found in Montross, Zacata and Kinsale, reports Newsplex.com in Charlottesville.
