WEATHER: Chris becomes first hurricane of Atlantic season

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Tropical Storm Chris strengthened today in the north-central Atlantic Ocean to hurricane force, becoming our first of the 2012 season.

The storm is not a threat to land, and is expected to weaken over the next two days over the cooler North Atlantic waters.
