RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–Tonight, in a somber ceremony, Governor Bob McDonnell will honor fallen officers.

A memorial service will be held at the Virginia Department of Transportation Auditorium in Richmond.

The governor will honor Deriek Crouse, the Virginia Tech officer killed on campus in 2011 and other Va. law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year.

Six officers total are being remembered, from Chesapeake, Alexandria and Buchanan County.

Adam Bowen was the state trooper killed while responding to a call in King George a year ago this month. Also from Chesapeake is police officer Timohth Schock, who died during a training dive.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies C. Neil Justus and William Stiltner were shot and killed defending their team from the shots of a sniper.

Alexandria Police Sgt. M.M. “Morty” Ford died in June, after succumbing to Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion in 1974.
