RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The AARP and the League of Women Voters of Virginia are teaming up to host a debate between the two candidates for U.S. Senate.

The organizations have invited democrat Tim Kaine and republican George Allen to take part in “The People’s Debate” in October. Kaine has accepted the invitation.

The groups hope the event will raise awareness of the issues that affect all Virginians and encourage more citizens to become registered voters.

The debate will be broadcast on both WTVR CBS 6 and WCVE PBS.
