HENRICO COUNTY, Va (WTVR) –   Henrico County School officials are investigating after Highland Springs High School staff arrived today  to find the school had been vandalized overnight.

Lt. Linda Toney with Henrico Police says toilet paper was thrown into trees and a food substance was smeared on the outside of the building.

Officials say no permanent damage was caused, and the vandals didn’t actually go into the  building. School administrators tell CBS 6 there are security measures in place they hope will help identify the culprits.

CBS 6 spoke with students headed in to class today, some tell us they thought this was you run of the mill senior class prank. One student told us she didn’t think the right of passage merited a heavy punishment.

“They didn’t do any harm to anybody. It was a harmless prank,” Callista Baig, A Highland Springs senior, said. “They didn’t do any harm to anybody. If some thing was harmed then, yes–action should be taken.”

School resource officers have taken over the investigation.
