Innocent bystander wounded by gunfire at Henrico apartments

HENRICO, Va. (WTVR) A woman has been injured,said police, after a stray bullet entered the wall of her second floor apartment.

Henrico Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Newbridge Village Apartments, in the 300 block of Newbridge Road.

Lt. C.J. Maurice said that the preliminary report is that multiple shots were fired by unknown person, or persons, near an apartment building.

The female victim has been transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The initial report was that she was seriously injured, but then police said that wound was not as serious as originally appeared.

Police have said they have started the investigation for this case, but at this time the motive is unknown. Police are going to door to door asking for any information.

Henrico Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information to contact CrimeStoppers at 780-1000.
