DOSWELL, Va. (WTVR)—Kings Dominion is hurdling into the world of social technology with its newest theme park offering, a free mobile app.

Leave the world of paper behind with this newest offering, unveiling just as the theme park season gets ready to zoom into high gear.

There are several neat functions. The number one utilitarian option—ticket purchase—allows users to buy single day general admission tickets to the park from the app.

Then users can scan a barcode from the mobile ticket—of an iPhone or Android–at the front gates.

Users can head off into the right direction and locate rides, restrooms and food with the assistance of a GPS enabled park map, and a park guide. All rides are easily categorized and searchable, and a handy Rider Height Guide is built into the software.

Parents and big groups will love the friend finder function, which allows guests to keep track of their group while at the park. Users just create a pin that they can track through the app.

A calendar of events showcases daily showtimes and monthly events, including which nights feature Fireworks displays.

Use it to find out hours of operation and to check the weather.

Out of town guests will also enjoy the access to information regarding nearby lodging and other accommodations near Kings Dominion.

The Kings Dominion mobile app is available to download for free from the iTunes app store and Google Play Store on Android phones. Search “Kings Dominion” to find and download.
