Charlottesville, VA—Officials confirmed today that 300 University of Virginia student’s transcripts were leaked online, with social security numbers included in the online data.

U.Va assistant vice president Shirley C. Payne said that university officials are not sure yet how long the information has been online, reported the Associated Press.

The breach was discovered when a student found his transcript online, during an internet search to find a photo of himself.

Carol Wood confirmed with the Daily Progress that some of the transcripts did contain social security numbers.

Wood also said that it doesn’t appear that any student information was manipulated or exploited. However, the university plans to offer free credit screenings to affected students.

The compromised data appears to belong to the group of 300 to 360 students who applied to the Summer Language Institute at the university, said Wood.
